Division & College Implementation Plans
Translating Vision into Action
As UNT’s strategic plan unfolds in three phases over the next five years, university leadership will guide UNT’s strategy and policy, coordinate strategic investments, and monitor institutional progress. Success depends on creating clear connections between the university's strategic priorities, the goals and initiatives of each college and division, and the investments we make through our annual budgeting cycle.
To achieve the ambitions of Look North: UNT 2030, leaders across each division and college are developing strategic plans and implementation roadmaps that align with the university’s three pillars — Develop, Discover, and Drive. These plans will articulate how each unit will contribute to UNT’s goals while drawing on the unique strengths, creativity, and dedication of the faculty and staff who power UNT’s success.
A Collective Commitment to Progress
This planning process creates a clear throughline from university-level priorities to unit-specific initiatives to resource allocation. By aligning strategic plans with budget investments, UNT ensures that our resources support our highest priorities and that every division and college can advance their goals. Through ongoing coordination and progress monitoring, we will track our collective advancement toward the 2030 targets outlined in Look North, adjusting our strategies as we learn and grow together.
By cultivating a culture that supports faculty and staff to excel in their teaching, research, creative work, and service, UNT will enable them to deliver even greater outcomes for our students, the North Texas region, the State of Texas, and beyond.
Colleges
College of Education
Since its founding in 1890, UNT has advanced education as a catalyst for individual
and societal transformation. The College of Education prepares educators, counselors,
and leaders who improve learning, strengthen communities, and expand opportunity.
Through nine bachelor's degrees, 18 master's programs, and 14 doctoral concentrations,
the college delivers rigorous preparation grounded in practice, research, and civic
responsibility.
College of Engineering
Located at Denton's Discovery Park, the UNT College of Engineering features a
high-density ecosystem designed for rapid cross-disciplinary breakthroughs. This collaborative
environment prepares career-ready students to meet critical industry needs and compete
effectively in today's global market while advancing strategic research in applied
artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and materials, healthcare innovations,
and autonomous systems.
College of Information
The College of Information at UNT advances education, research, and service at
the nexus of information, people, and technology. COI integrates the theoretical foundations
and practical applications of information detection, analysis, and sense-making to
address complex challenges facing organizations and society. Through applied research,
career-focused and student-centered learning, and sustained partnerships, the college
is driving innovation for the public good.
College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences
At the intersection of interdisciplinary research and creative spark, our college
is shaping the engaged citizens and scholars of tomorrow, now. We foster a culture
of curiosity and innovation, providing an agile education designed for a globalized
world. We don't just teach; we empower. By pairing world-class faculty with immersive,
hands-on learning, we bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application.
College of Music
The University of North Texas College of Music is America's largest public-university
music program and one of its most respected. COM offers fully accredited degrees and
is home to the world's first jazz studies degree program. Faculty include internationally
acclaimed, award-winning artists and scholars in commercial music, composition, conducting,
ethnomusicology, jazz studies, music business, music education, and music history,
theory, and performance.
College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences
The UNT College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences prepares students to do
work that makes a difference. With hands-on learning, real-world experience, and deep
community partnerships, students turn knowledge into action: improving health, strengthening
public systems, and supporting communities. From physical and behavioral health to
public service, public affairs, and social work, PAHS serves as a critical workforce
pipeline for North Texas and beyond.
College of Science
The UNT College of Science prepares its almost 4,000 students for careers in natural,
physical, mathematical, analytical, and medical sciences through classroom instruction
and involvement in cutting-edge research and scholarly activities. Our college's core
departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics are home to
many state-of-the-art research centers and facilities.
College of Visual Arts and Design
At the College of Visual Arts and Design, we cultivate creative leaders and critical
thinkers within a collaborative, rigorous, and forward-looking environment. Our work
is driven by an unwavering commitment to student success, nationally recognized faculty,
state-of-the-art facilities, and the dynamic creative economy of North Texas. We advance
our mission through creative excellence, purposeful innovation, and interdisciplinary
inquiry that connects making, research, and real-world impact.
G. Brint Ryan College of Business
Since 1942, the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at UNT has been preparing students
for success in business and public service by imparting the technical and practical
knowledge and expertise essential to their fields of study. We prepare our more than
8,500 students for success by teaching them to be critical thinkers, unstructured
problem-solvers, and good communicators who appreciate the changing demands of the
corporate community.
Honors College and TAMS
The UNT Honors College and the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS)
are interdisciplinary academic communities that support high-achieving students through
rigorous coursework, faculty mentorship, and immersive learning experiences. Through
enriched academics and individualized support, these programs prepare students to
excel academically, graduate on time, and pursue lives of meaning, impact, and service.
Divisions
Academic Affairs
The Office of the Provost and Division of Academic Affairs is responsible for
UNT's academic mission, including teaching and service. The provost's office provides
leadership in the development and supervision of the university's academic programs
and curriculum in conjunction with the deans and faculty representatives. Additionally,
the provost's office collaborates with the Division of Research and Innovation in
promoting faculty and student scholarship.
Advancement
The Division of Advancement strengthens the University of North Texas by building
the relationships and resources that support one of the nation's largest and most
impactful public universities. As a leading driver of social mobility in Texas, UNT
serves a large student population whose success depends on access, affordability,
and outcomes beyond graduation. Advancement connects generosity to opportunities that
ensure a UNT degree delivers lasting value.
Athletics
UNT Athletics is guided by a mission of Building Champions and Preparing Leaders
through the pursuit of perfection in academics, athletics, and life. We strive to
unite and inspire the Mean Green Community through championship excellence, integrity,
tradition, and meaningful connection. We are committed to becoming a national model
for student-athlete experience, competitive excellence, stakeholder engagement, and
sustainable revenue generation.
Brand Strategy and Communications
University Brand Strategy and Communications supports University of North Texas
strategic priorities by strengthening the university's brand, reputation, and visibility
with key audiences, as well as driving key decisions from stakeholders related to
enrollment, fundraising, and other support for the university.
Enrollment
The Division of Enrollment supports students with a caring spirit by providing
access and clear pathways to educational opportunity. Guided by a vision of delivering
a simplified, nurturing enrollment experience from recruitment to graduation, the
division leads services that help students apply, gain admission, secure financial
aid, pay tuition, register for classes, and engage with UNT through personalized communications
and pathway programs.
Finance and Administration
The Division of Finance and Administration ensures UNT's environment supports
the success of students, faculty, and staff. Budget, Controller, Facilities, Police,
Risk Management Services, Transportation Services and the Texas Municipal Clerks organization
are housed in this division. Safe, functional, and welcoming spaces are provided through
24-hour services, cultivation of strategic partnerships, and responsible stewardship
of campus resources.
Integrity and Compliance
Guided by UNT's core values, University Integrity and Compliance (UIC) champions
a culture of ethical conduct and accountability across campus. We ensure that every
aspect of university life, from teaching and research to daily operations, upholds
the highest standards of integrity and full compliance with all laws, regulations,
and policies. UIC empowers faculty, staff, and students to make principled decisions,
safeguarding public trust while propelling UNT's mission of excellence.
Libraries
The UNT Libraries make a difference. We facilitate teaching, learning, and research
for students, faculty, and information seekers at UNT and around the world. Our expert
staff, spaces, services, and collections support academic success and lifelong learning.
Research and Innovation
The Division of Research and Innovation (DRI) works intentionally, strategically,
and collaboratively across campus to support the UNT research community of faculty,
staff, students, and external partners. The division aims to provide exceptional research
services and administration, including development programs, compliance expertise,
resources, knowledge of research translation to commercially important products, and
student researcher development.
Strategic Educational Alliances
The Division of Strategic Educational Alliances (SEA) strengthens UNT's impact
by connecting academic excellence with regional workforce demand and strategic enrollment
growth. Through Executive and Professional Learning, the Workforce Intelligence team,
and data-informed program strategy, SEA supports career-aligned learning, innovative
credential pathways, and employer partnerships that advance student success and economic
mobility.
Student Affairs
UNT’s Division of Student Affairs enriches the student experience by offering
programs, services, and opportunities that support student success. With a focus on
holistic development, we provide resources that enhance student wellbeing, foster
community engagement, and empower students to thrive academically, socially, and professionally.

University Technology empowers UNT through secure, reliable, and innovative technology
solutions that support learning, research, and operations. We advance student success
